The Leaves Were Building Up Around Condenser Unit

Every year, before the official start of Fall, I like to hire an HVAC professional to come service my HVAC system.

I like for the HVAC professional to look at my air conditioning system since I’ve run it all summer long, and I like for him to look at my furnace before turning it on for the cooler months.

This ensures that my entire HVAC system is running smoothly and efficiently before making the transition from air to heat. This year was no exception. I hired the HVAC professional, he came to my house, looked at everything, and he told me that both the air conditioning system and furnace were running properly. This was wonderful news and I continued running my air conditioning while the weather was still hot. A few weeks later, I noticed that my utility bill was unusually high. Since I’d already had an HVAC professional service my HVAC system, I assumed it was a glitch of some sort and I thought nothing more of it. It wasn’t until I started hearing my AC unit working extra hard, and the air starting and stopping constantly, that I realized something was wrong. I called the HVAC professional back and asked him to come double check his work. What he told me, I wasn’t expecting. According to him, the leaves were already beginning to fall from the trees and they were building up around my condenser unit. In order to keep my AC running efficiently, I needed to clear the leaves around it.
