Unfortunately, my AC system started giving out on me a few days after I turned it on, which meant that it was nearly impossible to get an appointment with the local HVAC company.
When I purchased my first home, I was overwhelmed by all the new responsibilities that I had. I had to take care of things that I never anticipated like cutting the grass every week during the summer, taking out the trash at a specific time, and caring for my furnace and air conditioning unit. The HVAC system was my most aggravating task because I rarely remembered to have it serviced by an HVAC professional until it was too late. I was trying to stay on top of my HVAC tune ups, but one missed appointment turned into another and then I was left with a malfunctioning AC system and embarrassed to call an HVAC professional. Unfortunately, my AC system started giving out on me a few days after I turned it on, which meant that it was nearly impossible to get an appointment with the local HVAC company. All the houses in the area were switching off their furnaces and turning on their HVAC systems, so when I called to have my AC system fixed, they were booking appointments for one week out! Since it was the beginning of summer, I was fortunate to have moderate temperatures to hold me over until the HVAC professional could come fix my AC unit. After this semi-traumatic experience, I felt like I could never miss another HVAC appointment or my furnace or air conditioning unit would stop working. Now, I have a calendar alert set on my phone to remind me twice per year to have my HVAC system serviced before the rush.
