When I was eating dinner with my parents at their house the other evening, my parents started discussing their HVAC plan.
My mom was trying to get my dad to call the local HVAC company to schedule their biannual tune up.
My dad was telling her that he would get to it, but my mother wasn’t convinced with his answer. In the midst of their little tiff, I asked them why they were so concerned with having their HVAC system serviced when it was still technically summer time. I shouldn’t have said this, because my dad went into a rant about how important it was to have HVAC equipment tuned before starting or stopping it. There were so many things that could go wrong including inefficient energy consumption, leaking fluid, or loose parts and pieces. During all of this, my mother nodded along. When my dad was finally done listing off the reasons to have HVAC equipment serviced before the cooler weather, my mom started questioning the care I put towards my own HVAC system. She wanted to know if I was neglecting my HVAC system, when I planned to have it serviced, and who I hired to care for my HVAC equipment each year. I felt overwhelmed by my parents’ questions, but thankfully, my dad decided to call the HVAC company on the spot to schedule their appointment. I like to think I helped my parents avoid an argument by asking one simple question about their HVAC system maintenance schedule.
